"John Chiasson is the man with the Voice of Velvet." - Natalie MacMaster
After a regular stint playing bass for the Rankin Family Band and Natalie MacMaster, JOHN CHIASSON hit the jazz circuit full-force. His 1997 release, Here in the Moonlight, highlights his virtuosity as instrumentalist, vocalist, writer and arranger. The success of the album and accompanying video (a number one on Bravo) demonstrated the popular appeal of Chiasson's
delicate sound and approach to interpreting standards – drawing on the sounds of Latin, swing and blues – a luxuriant listening experience.
The John Chiasson Septet is John Chiasson vocals and bass, DANI OORE tenor saxophone, ROB CROWELL tenor saxophone, GERRY CARRUTHERS piano, DAVE STAPLES organ, JAMIE ROBINSON guitar, and DAMIEN MOYNIHAN drums. |
